Our Story

TEDxABQ’s roots go back further than most people realize. Our journey began in 2009 as TEDxTamaya, one of the earliest independently organized TEDx events in the world. In 2010, we became TEDxABQ, bringing the spirit of “ideas worth spreading” directly into the heart of New Mexico.

In the years since, we’ve never stopped evolving. We reached our largest audience in 2018 with a 2,000+ person event, alongside additional programming spotlighting Women, Education, and Youth. After a hiatus during COVID-19 and a return with a 300-person event in 2022, TEDxABQ was reimagined and relaunched in 2023 under Curiosity, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Since the relaunch, our goal has been to build from our deep roots while investing more deliberately in our speakers, our themes, and the community we’re building around them.

For almost two decades, TEDxABQ has served as a stage for New Mexico’s boldest thinkers, builders, and storytellers, curating talks that challenge assumptions, spark curiosity, and connect our community to ideas shaping the world. What started as a small gathering has grown into one of the longest-running TEDx organizations, a legacy we carry forward with every event.

Our Team

TEDxABQ has always run on volunteer energy. Since our founding in 2010, every talk, every event, and every idea we’ve put on stage has been shaped by people who show up because they care, not because it’s their job. Our volunteers do it all: speaker coaching, event production, marketing, fundraising, graphic design, and everything in between.

We’re always looking for people who want to build something meaningful with us. If you’ve got a skill to offer, a story to tell, or just a lot of curiosity, there’s a place for you on this team.
